The trend towards online travel bookings continues. In 2008, www.tiscover.com

Just like in previous years, online travel is still a rising tide. www.tiscover.com
saw a booking increase for Austria of 15% over 2007. Guests from Germany (35%) and Austria (29%) make up the majority. 4-star and 3-star hotels were highest in demand (33%), followed by private accommodation providers (19%) and vacation rental apartments (11%). Another trend on www.tiscover.com
is toward short breaks: 19% of guests stay for two nights, 14% stay for three nights, which particularly benefits spa hotels.
In 2008, the number of accommodations bookable online through www.tiscover.com
has risen by 10% to a record of over 6,000. Another 12,500 Tiscover hotels can be booked upon enquiry.
“The Internet meets the increased price awareness of users because travel offers can be compared quickly and easily. We are convinced that the percentage of online bookings will grow in 2009“, says Konrad Plankensteiner, CEO Tiscover.
