After inviting tenders for the new project, Tiscover came out on top against the international competitors. The contract comprises booking technologies, web design and marketing measures.
High level of know-how required
Montenegro, Europe's youngest republic and most promising tourist destination in the southern Adriatic area, looks back at a rapid development. An equally speedy decision was made for the new tourist portal: Tiscover won the international tender for the development of the new travel site.
Tiscover was assigned to create the country's website (destination management system) and to design the Montenegrin tourist portal. Tiscover simply was one step ahead. The project's visualization starts right now, the new portal site of Montenegro should be online in March 2008 on the occasion of the ITB, the world's biggest tourist trade fair held in Berlin. "This project is a great challenge for Tiscover as Montenegro ranks among the most promising tourist destinations in south-eastern Europe “, explains Tiscover CEO Konrad Plankensteiner. "The Montenegrin travel portal includes some 20 local tourist boards and their accommodations.“
Tourism as Montenegro's main economic motor
The young republic of Montenegro covers 14,000 km², featuring 294 km of coastline, 73 km of beaches, 150 mountain peaks higher than 2,000m above sea level, 255 hotels and some 35,000 guest beds. A perfect base for upcoming tourism businesses and the most promising economic sector within the region.
"We wanted one of the best partners for our new Tourist Portal Site “, states Predrag Nenezić, the Tourism and Environment Minister on the occasion of the contract signing in Podgorica in October. "In future, Montenegro focuses on high-quality tourism in all facets available in our country.“ Saša Radović, Director of the National Tourist Board, is equally convinced of a cooperation with the Tirolean experts: "Tiscover's integrative concept for premium networked marketing strategies coupled with an array of online activities will create a new dimension in tourist marketing.“
According to a report issued by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), Montenegro is Europe's fastest growing tourist destinations and ranks among the top three world-wide. 1,1 million guests came to Montenegro in the first nine months of 2007 – an increase of 19%. With 6.9 million overnight stays the country registers a growth rate of 21%. "The best seasonal development within the last 20 years" adds Minister Nenezić.
With some 1.5 billion, the WTTC expects that tourism covers 22 percent of the country's gross domestic product until 2016. Every fourth workplace will be in the field of tourism according to the latest forecasts.
